KHRattlehead

Carlos V., a.k.a. KHRattlehead, is a fully blind streamer, musician, and gaming accessibility consultant from Texas. He is the unofficial team leader of the Sento Showdown, acting as the face of the team, performing outreach with sponsorships, and co-hosting Sento Showdown events on his Twitch channel. He was introduced to gaming via the 90s arcade scene, quickly falling in love with the Mortal Kombat franchise. He moved on to compete at Evo 2013 in the Mortal Kombat (2011) tournament, and many blind gamers have cited him as part of the reason they got into gaming themselves. He has appeared in articles from websites like The Verge and represented blind gaming in a PBS documentary. In 2023, Carlos was invited to NetherRealm Studios in Chicago, consulting on their latest release Mortal Kombat 1 with the late blind gaming advocate Brandon Cole, a.k.a. SuperBlindMan. Mortal Kombat forever left its mark on Carlos, and he got to live out his dream of leaving a mark on Mortal Kombat. His favorite games include Mortal Kombat (2011)  Mortal Kombat 1,The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and both The Last of Us and God of War series. His favorite fighting game characters include Mortal Kombat’s Scorpion and Cyrax. When Carlos isn’t streaming, gaming, or spending time with family,  he practices, records, and performs music with his metal band, Distartica, fitting in as the drums and vocals. They released their debut record In Flames We Rise in 2017, with their sophomore album In Silence They Scream dropping in 2023.

Captain Earshot

Carlos M., a.k.a. Captain Earshot, is a fully blind university employee from California, and is also the four-time reigning champion of The Sento Showdown’s events. When it comes to being a tournament organizer, he is even more of a champion. Carlos wears many hats, splitting himself up to assist the other team members with their own work, from editing scripts, providing audio description lines for trailers, creating and filing forms, communicating with players and sponsors, providing feedback on others’ work, seeding tournament brackets, and essentially all of the small tasks and details that allow the tournament, and team, to function as well as they do. His teammates would agree that, with no Captain Earshot, there’d be no Sento Showdown. He discovered video games through his siblings, as it was a way for them to bond while growing up. He found his competitive success thanks to his devout study of his own gameplay, rewatching and learning to better understand his opponents’ play as well as his own. Carlos’s favorite games include Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 6, and multiple titles from the Mortal Kombat and Pokémon franchises. His favorite fighting game characters include Mortal Kombat’s Mileena and Jade. When Carlos isn’t competing in Blind FGC events, you can find him practicing on the keyboard and exploring his interest in audio engineering.

Volunteers

In addition to the five tournament organizers that make up the Sento Showdown Team, there is a small group of primarily sighted individuals that volunteer their time to assist the main team in making sure that the Sento Showdown events can be the best that they can be. From providing visual feedback, monitoring Twitch chat, and assisting with inaccessible websites/software, they also provide unique help individually.

Hasashi69 is the team’s all-purpose IT support. He has assisted in the past with setting up brackets on inaccessible websites, creating stream overlays, gameplay commentary, and making sure that our streams run as smoothly as possible.

Kitanye assists with contacting competitors for our events, providing them information such as start times, bracket/pools placements, tournament rules, and other vital information that ensures all players are prepared and on time for their sets.

RoarshaktheBrave assists with when it is necessary to run some pools/sets off stream. He invites players and documents the match results before reporting back to the rest of the team.

Pneumonia_D assists with social media management, posting clips, bracket updates, set reminders, and match results to our Twitter and Discord.

Lilly M. assists behind the scenes, creating the Sento Showdown website and being the one to ship out past events’ prizes, merchandise, and volunteer thank you gifts. She also is in charge of merchandise, from handling design, production, and distribution.

MTLKillerX18 is the newest volunteer to join the team. A past finalist at two Sento Showdown events, he assists in providing commentary during the Kahn of the Hill Series.

In short, the Sento Showdown Volunteers are monumental in making the events what they are today. The team is very grateful for their support and time.
